These systems will be built into the quayside and enable ships to connect to grid-generated electrical power and incorporate spring-assisted One-Hand-Lift Access Covers.
“Cavotec’s One-Hand-Lift Access Covers are safer than many alternatives that are currently available. Our innovative system avoids operator stress and injury by reducing lift weights to a minimum,” explains Rob Thompson, Cavotec USA Inc. West Coast Manager.
AMP supports the work of many ports in improving safety and limiting environmental impact. The first AMP system became operational at Sweden’s Port of Gothenburg in 1984, where new systems continue to go on line. Cavotec’s shore power systems are increasingly widely used at ports in Canada, Europe and the Far East, as well as on the US west coast.
Cavotec has also installed AMP systems at the Port of Los Angeles, which has won commendations from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals.
