Port operator DP World reports growth in container traffic

DP World, one of world’s largest port operators, has announced a 7.5 per cent-jump in container traffic for the first six months of the year.

“The number of containers handled across our portfolio of global ports has increased again, with 28.2 million containers handled in the first six months of the year,” said DP World Chief Executive Mohammed Sharaf in a statement.

The group’s ports, numbering 60 all around the world, handled more than 28 million TEUs to June. The Asia Pacific and Indian subcontinent showed the strongest performance in container movements.

We are delighted to see this encouraging news, especially coming as it does so soon after we heard that another Cavotec customer, Dubai International Airport, reported a record number of passenger numbers in the six months to June.
